Char Carway
Stunts
About
Char Carway is a stunt performer from County Clare, Ireland, based between Clare and Wicklow and a member of Stunt Register Ireland.
She trains year-round with professional stunt organisations across Ireland and the UK, refining every element of her craft — from precision falls and fire work to complex underwater sequences and weapon choreography.
Her approach is grounded in realism, safety, and the pursuit of technical excellence. Every scene is built on preparation; every motion, no matter how chaotic on camera, is the result of absolute control.
Performance
Disciplines
Char’s stunt work draws together a unique combination of aquatic ability, weapon mastery, and physical durability, underpinned by years of diverse athletic and outdoor training.
Underwater Work
A qualified PADI Divemaster, Char trains and works through Oceandivers Ireland, a PADI 5 Star Centre.
Her experience spans Nitrox, Drysuit, and Deep Diving certifications, with dives logged across Ireland’s cold-water coasts and international locations including Lanzarote and Jordan.
Regularly diving year-round, Char continues to refine her control, awareness, and adaptability in varied environments and depths — with many of her dives taking place in the 30–40 metre range. She is currently interested in expanding her capabilities through technical diving training, further developing her comfort and precision in deep and demanding underwater environments.
This breadth of experience gives her the ability to perform confidently in a wide range of underwater environments — from low-visibility quarries to tropical wrecks and reef systems.
Weapons & Combat
Char has earned distinctions across Ireland’s IDCA weapon grading system — including Unarmed Combat, Rapier & Dagger, Broadsword, Sword & Shield, Knife, Small Sword, and Sabre — becoming the youngest in Ireland to achieve that record.
Beyond formal systems, she continues to expand her repertoire through intensive weapons training in archery, nunchaku, bullwhip, cane work, environmental combat and so much more, constantly developing versatility in both traditional and improvised weapons. Her fight performance is defined by fluid motion, commitment, and a grounded physicality that reads powerfully on camera.
Wire, Fire & Impact
Char’s experience includes full-body and skin burns, fire safety, car hits, falls, and wire gags, developed through continuous professional training and collaboration with top Irish and UK stunt coordinators.
She holds Level 1 & 2 Practical Theatrical Firearms Certificates for safe on-set handling of front- and top-venting firearms.
Equally comfortable being thrown, tripped, or crashed through furniture, Char’s landings and reactions are disciplined, repeatable, and camera-ready — the result of years spent perfecting timing and control.
Char’s foundation in movement is as diverse as it is deep. A lifelong athlete, she grew up immersed in sport — from hockey, GAA, and basketball to archery, rowing, horse riding, cross-country running, and hiking. Her comfort across disciplines has built the adaptability and coordination that now underpin her stunt work.
Her background also includes years in watersports and adventure instruction, holding qualifications as an ISA Advanced Sailing Instructor, Powerboat Handler, Kayaking and SUP (Stand-Up Paddleboarding) Instructor, and Archery Instructor. Char has taught everything from sailing to axe throwing, with a calm, safety-driven approach that translates seamlessly to high-pressure stunt environments.
She has successfully competed nationally and internationally in sailing, trampolining, and martial arts, and continues to train across Tang Soo Do, Kickboxing, and Hapkido, alongside ongoing development in wirework, fire performance, diving, and weapons systems.
Driven by an obsession with precision and performance, Char trains daily across multiple disciplines — from gym-based strength and conditioning to high-skill stunt training — continually developing the physical and mental resilience needed to meet the demands of screen action.
